Hey, this post affects everyone. I pray you learn something after
reading it, apply it to your life and end up glad you did.
Let me start by saying that temptations are never planned for so live
ready. We all get tempted at one time or the other in our lives.
There’s
nothing wrong with being tempted, it’s yielding to it that’s wrong.
Jesus got tempted. Do you know the
conditions facing Jesus then
were enough for Him to yield? He was tempted by the devil at the
wilderness of Judah, on the north western
side of the Dead Sea. A
very hot and desolate place, between July and September the average
temperature is
over 38 degree Celsius, much hotter than body temperature yet Christ
spent 40 days here.
Godliness is costly but the gain is immeasurable.
People will discriminate against you, spite, molest and assault you
just because you made a choice to stay with Jesus. But remember that
God is not a user of men rather, a
rewarder.
All these said, what is temptation? And how can I overcome it?
Temptation is a craving or desire for something
considered wrong. It is an
advertisement of sin luring careless buyers.
Do you know if sin appears to be sin, no one will
commit sin? Temptation is
an organized strategy designed to distract and entice man out of
his place and dignity.
Temptation is a battle against your destiny.
No temptation is small or common. Every temptation is designed to cause a
fall. Please note that.
How then can I overcome temptation?
– Study the word daily. I call it daily word
showers. Fill your heart
with a firm resolve to obey it; for every man is tempted with what he
likes and what he believes he needs. To be wordless is to be reckless
with life.
Never think you are too strong to fall, without
daily word showers you will
soon be a victim. Just like you need food on a daily basis to keep the
physical body going, spiritual stamina is built on your daily intake
of the
word.
– Meditate on the word and declare the word till
it becomes part of you. Overcoming temptation depends on your
spiritual capacity to withstand it.
What to know about temptation.
– It cannot be stopped.
– It is not new.
– It is never planned for.
– It is not a time battle, it is a life battle.
– It is not seasonal; it comes always.
– It is real, not a mystical thing.
– Everyone gets tempted.
– It is personal; there is no corporate temptation.
– It is not a sin but may lead to it.
– Temptations can be overcome.
Every child of God is born to live the overcomer’s
life; we must fight to
win this war.
CHECK THIS OUT: The ultimate mission of Jesus
was to gain all the world’s
kingdoms so that He could deliver them up to God. The
means by which Jesus was to accomplish this was by His death on the
cross and resurrection. Satan was trying to offer Jesus the
opportunity to fulfill the ultimate mission without having to die on the
cross.
We get tempted many times to take the easy way out. We should not
forget that the end doesn’t justify the means.
Before you make a decision learn to ask,“will God be pleased with what I
am about to do?”
If you can’t answer that with a clear conscience then don’t do it.
