DUSTY FEET AND SHOES
We all know how dusty and dry this season can be. My sincere advice to anyone who doesn’t own a car yet, has to walk certain distances to get to their destination, or those who just love to take a walk is, ‘do not leave your house without a handkerchief, not white, I repeat not white’.
All you need do is wipe your shoes clean periodically while you walk, and mind you the way you walk matters. Personally I do not like flip-flops or sandals, because I do not know how to walk properly in them; that doesn’t mean I do not own a pair or two though. If you’re the type that can’t walk without shovelling some dust and sand, you should try walking gently by raising your feet higher than you normally would, rather than drag them. It would certainly help to reduce the amount of dirt you pack on.

So yeah, my dear Zinoscroll readers, these are my simple tips to stay clean and fresh in this harmattan season. When it gets really cold do not hesitate to slip on a cardigan or jacket to keep you warm. Stay safe love you, Zino P.

1
Take a shower or bath every day. Wash either every day or every other day. Ideally, your shower or bath should be at least ten minutes long. Taking a shower will help you feel and look fresh. Male or female, make sure that you shampoo your hair thoroughly, and use a conditioner if desired. Use a body wash to clean all of your nooks and crannies – don’t ignore places like your feet! After you take a shower, it’s a good idea for males and females to apply lotion — it will keep your skin soft and supple.

2
Take care of your hair. Make sure it’s clean and not greasy! Different hair types have different requirements for washing – try to find out how often you need to shampoo. That tends to take up a lot of time and, when done too often, it strips your hair off its natural, necessary oils. You can easily buy products aimed at different hair types. Even so, you should make sure that it’s fresh, clean, and dandruff-free. Brush and comb your hair daily, especially when it is long. For women, don’t overuse heat products or hairspray because it can damage your hair and make it very dry and difficult to manage.

3
Present yourself in a flattering way. Most of this is common sense, for example, don’t dye your hair half pink and half blue if you want to look neat and clean-cut. Let it go natural, although keep it clean. Keep your hair regularly trimmed, shave, wash your hands, keep your nails trimmed and dirt-free, don’t wear anything outrageous. Make sure your choice of clothing is clean, presentable, and fairly stylish.

4
Use all dental hygiene tools. Toothpaste, a toothbrush, mouthwash, floss, and a visit to your dentist should do the trick. Brush your teeth and tongue regularly to prevent bad breath and cavities. Replace your toothbrush every three months to keep it effective.

5
Be aware of your body odor. If you shower regularly, this shouldn’t be too much of a concern. However, use deodorant or antiperspirant. You may want to try foot powder. If you choose to use cologne or perfume, use it as an accent – don’t try to mask an odor with these products. Remember to use a very light touch with these products in order to keep the smell from becoming overwhelming. Be aware that some people have allergies. If one can smell it from more that three or four feet away, then you are wearing too much.

6
Develop good posture. You won’t look neat and tidy with a slouched back. Standing and sitting up straight will make you look better and feel better. It may seem unnatural at first, but it will come to be second nature. This is an excellent habit. It increases body circulation and helps you think more clearly, as well.

7
Watch your body language. Smile, don’t cross your arms, and make yourself approachable. You will be amazed at the amount of friends that you make!

8
Don’t come across as nasty. Take good care of your body. Don’t fart, burp or pick your nose in or out public. Less people will think of you as a neat, clean and nice person. This also helps to make and let them remember you as a neat, nice, clean person in the future.

9
Do not touch your face if you have acne. Wash your face regularly to look clean and fresh!

10
Don’t wear faded clothing. Make sure your clothes are new and stainless. If you’re on a budget here’s a little trick I’ve learned. You wear a T shirt under your main article of clothing. That way you won’t smell it up. And as long as you keep the outside clean you won’t have to wash it after every use(which minimizes fading).

11
Keep your facial hair under control. If you’re a guy shave daily. If you have a mustache make sure no hair is covering your lip and never let it get bushy. If you’re going to have facial hair always make sure it is short. You may need to get electric clippers to keep everything trimmed.
